ROSEWOOD INN OF THE ANASAZI, SANTA FE
The Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi has always nailed that City Different sweet spot: adobe elegance, crackling fireplaces, and a sense you’ve checked into Santa Fe personified. Now it has a delicious new chapter. Executive chef Cristian Pontiggia (named a James Beard Award semifinalist in 2025 while at the now shuttered Italian standby Sassella) has taken the reins of the hotel’s culinary program and is already drawing a loyal crowd. “I love seeing regulars of Sassella that have followed me here,” Pontiggia says. DON’T MISS: Ask the chef to take the lead for a five-course dinner based on what’s inspiring him now. Magic unfolds, like his take on pigs in a blanket, a seafood party of lobster atop fresh sea bass, and smoked chocolate truffles. And, not to worry: His showstopping Caesar salad still lives on at Anasazi.
Perched about a mile north of downtown Santa Fe, Hotel Glorieta is a freshly revamped base camp for those who would rather hit trails than fight plaza parking. Step out back for direct access to the 25-mile La Tierra Trails network, then refuel with a solid breakfast buffet before heading out again. DON’T MISS: The surprise star is Lady Duff’s Lounge, formerly the Hilltop, which received dark green walls, Art Deco–style lighting, and a newly reworked kitchen and bar program. “The view is the same, but the feeling is completely transformed,” says marketing director Cecilia Doria.
In the former 1960s Palace hotel, Palace Modern is now a design-forward Santa Fe hideout that feels like a private Airbnb rather than a hotel experience. Wrapped in contemporary Mexican warmth, every room has its own personality thanks to earthy textures, artisan lighting, and art you can buy. “The location is perfect: steps to the Plaza, Marcy Street’s new restaurants, and an easy shot to the ski mountain,” says co-owner Jay Heneghan. DON’T MISS: “Room 7 is popular with guests for those who stayed in the former hotel,” Heneghan says. “Lots of windows.”
Looking north for a change of pace? Hotel Willa offers an art-forward stay at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
